Catch Basin Installation/ Repair/ Cleaning
If there is water pooling on your driveway, outside the paved area, or concreted area - we recommend the installation of a catch basin. Catch basins provide additional drainage and collect excessive water around the building and directs it away from the foundation and living area. All the water collected from the catch basin flows into your storm drain and is connected to the city storm drain.

The catch basin requires yearly maintenance, as falling leaves and debris accumulate inside the catch basin preventing its proper functioning. Ensure the catch basin is cleaned and drains well before every season.

What does it mean to disconnect downspouts?
It means that the pipes from your eavestrough that connected to the municipal sewer drain should get capped. Each end, where the pipe enters the ground, should get disconnected from a sewer drain and capped however, there are guidelines on how to perform proper downspout disconnection. You could consult with your local municipality about eligibility for downspout disconnection as you should have enough lawn space for runoff water, and to not interfere with neighbors or municipal sidewalks. It might create a slip and fall hazard on the street, or a water problem for neighbors.

We will access your downspouts and eavestroughs to check if they are connected to the weeping tile if so, we get them disconnected if possible, and rerouted.

If disconnection is not possible, the homeowner has to sign Acknowledgement and Release section of the Application Form.
Battery Backup for Sump Pump
Please consider that we also install battery backup for sump pumps. You may need one battery power back up for your Sump Pump during power outages in severe weather conditions.

Your sump pump depends on electricity, and if there is an outage, your basement is at risk of flooding. Battery backup sump pump would turn on, and pump out the water if the level of the water starts rising.
backwater valve
A backwater valve is usually placed at the exit point of the sewer pipe under your foundation. In normal conditions, the valve allows wastewater to flow away from your property through the main drain out to the sanitary city's sewer on the street. In circumstances when wastewater flows back toward your property, the valve closes and prevents wastewater or stormwater from entering the home.

However, there are some limitations:
Once the backflow valve is closed (or in check), wastewater cannot flow into the sewer system.

This means that you cannot use water, because it is not able to drain away until the conditions that caused the backflow have been eliminated, and the valve can return to its open position.

It is possible to install inside and outside close to the foundation wall. We would find the best spot for the installation of the backwater valve and give some options if possible. Once your home has been approved for backwater valve installation, a homeowner is obligated to disconnect all downspouts to receive the subsidy for backwater valve installation.

sump pump
A sump pump is a basement flood preventative device, which should be installed in the lowest point of the basement, below the foundation if possible. It collects all stormwater coming into your basement in the sump pit, and the sump pump pumps it outside through the discharge pipe. The submersible sump pump does not clog with small debris and does not require constant attention. Sump Pump works from electricity, and has a sealing lid that prevents electrical short circuits; during electricity outages, we recommend having a battery backup sump pump installed that would prevent your basement from flooding.

Backwater Valve Installation
The city of Toronto covers up to 80% of the cost including taxes and any additional fees. The maximum rebate for Back Flow Valve is $1250
Sump Pump Installation
The City of Toronto subsidy program also covers up to 80% of installation or replacement of Sump Pump including labor, material, and taxes. It covers the cost only for one Sump pump per household regardless of the number of devices installed. The maximum rebate for the installation of a sump pump is $1750 in the City of Toronto.
Severance and Capping of Foundation Drain (weeping tile)
The rebate covers up to 80% of the cost or up to $400 maximum.
City of Toronto
The City of Toronto implemented a basement flooding subsidy program after an increase in massive rain floods. Homeowners are eligible to get up to $3400 rebate per property after installation of flooding protection devices (backwater valve, sump pump, and capping and severance of weeping tile from the City's sewer system) by an approved plumber or drain contractor by the city of Toronto. While protecting your basement from flooding, you also help your city sewer system by reducing water flow during severe weather conditions.
